Walks, weight loss & high waisted shorts:

Ok. So I know what you're thinking.. A blog? On Friday?! Beth, have you lost it? No, actually I haven't, though I doubt that would surprise a lot of you.. Anywho, yes, this is a rare Friday blog as I'm working both today & Saturday and will not have time to put one out on Sunday because I'll be travelling to Disneyland at 6am and there is just not enough time to write one through the excitement! So anyway, here's a little update on my life of this week...

I started going on walks this week, which is making me feel a lot better about myself, I feel more healthy in myself, I also discovered places in my village I'd never seen before, can you believe it? I've lived here for 20 years and I don't even know they exsisted! Madness! I think once I come back from Disney I'll start walking everyday as it's something I've become a bit obsessed with, and it's such an easy way to tone your legs, which are my main problem area.

I lost another 2 pound this week! Woohoo! I've figured I've stopped losing as much as I'm toning majorly and obviously muscle weighs more than fat, so I'm extremely happy with my progress! I've lost a total of 1st and 5lbs so far and I'm only about 7/8 lbs away from my goal weight, this was the week I've seen a massive difference in my body and slowly but surely I'm getting my abs back, hopefully in the next couple of weeks I'll manage to hit my goal weight!

This week I finally got paid, so I took a shopping trip to treat myself and to pick up euros for my Disneyland adventure. I bought a pair of high waisted shorts, which might I add we're an absolute pain in the arse to find! I LOVE high waisted shorts, especially now my waist has shrunk, I find them extremely flattering to my body shape. But I was so disappointed in the lack of them flying around, I went EVERYWHERE, I normally stick to Primark as they usually have really nice ones, but not this year! TopShop had some for £40, well out of my price range, no thankyou, in the end I settled with some from New Look for half the price & was relieved more than anything to find some. So, whoever makes high waisted shorts needs a big slap on the wrists!

Also, we're having a flea problem in our house at the moment. Our cats are very wild and pick up all sorts due to where we live, so even though they're now flea free our house is not & we are being bitten to the death, please can someone help us!? We have literally tried EVERYTHING!

I am aware this blog was extremely sucky and bad, but I do work and lead a very very boring life at the moment, I have some really exciting things coming up over the next couple of weeks and when I go back to Uni my life will become exciting once again and there will be much more I can share with you guys and much more fun things I'll be doing, so please stay with me, it will get better, I promise!!

Festival survival guide:

Festival season is upon us! Exciting stuff! And you want to be prepared before you go right?! I went to Reading Festival last year, my first festival,and was only really prepared because I went with my brother & he's been loads, if I hadn't gone with him I'd have been screwed! Now I'm not your average camper, if I camp it's for one night only and with people who are weaker than me so I'm not the one who would potentially get killed first, giving me time to escape. So the thought of spending longer in the 'wilderness' gives me major anxiety, but hey, I trooped though & survived & it can't have been that bad as I'm going back this year.

If like me you don't want to die, here is your essential festival survival guide.

TENT: Lord Jesus, take a tent, because the odds are you won't (actually you probably will) find a lovely guy or girl to take you in for the weekend, c'mon now, you need one. And a decent one that ideally doesn't leak. last year I used a friends and let me tell ya'll, waking up in a puddle is.. ok, it's a free bath, let's be positive, but no it's not fun, and you won't have any dry socks to wear, that will piss you off.

FOOD: You will need to eat, food at festivals tend to be quite expensive so it's probably best to take your own, you won't need to take meals and stuff, ain't nobody got time to cook! Just snacks! Unless you're like me who somehow managed to survive the weekend on one hotdog, not even the bun, just the hotdog. I don't know why I didn't eat, I just don't think I was hungry, I don't know it's just something I didn't do. I would strongly not advise this as it's a silly thing to do and I don't want to be held responsible for multiple pass outs or deaths. So eat!

DRINK: Water, drink it, it's good for you. Alcohol. Now you'll be drinking A LOT of this stuff, so it should definitely be a priority on your list. Drink until your happy, it's fun! But don't be the girl, or guy who's drank it all too quickly and has to be put to bed. You will feel like a complete prat. That's right folks, I was that prat, and I can tell you now, it's embarrassing and you will wake up in the morning in your own sick and you will feel like shit for the rest of the morning, and you don't want to miss your favourite act because your too hungover do you? For the love of God pace yourself & please don't get too drink too quickly.

HYGEINE: They do have showers at these things, but if like me you're too lazy to find them then you'll have to make do with a wet wipe wash. Girls, no matter how glamorous the magazines make it, wet wipes, dry shampoo and deodorant will be your new best friends, and even then you will smell and it will be bad, but you won't notice because everyone's in the same boat, deal with it.

Here I am looking oh-so unglamorous at Reading fest last year.

CLOTHES: It's probably best to check the weather on this one, but don't pack your whole wardrobe. I was proper trampy and wore some of the clothes for a few days - I have no shame. Probably best to wear wellies, you always think of wellies when you hear the word festival, should probably avoid jeans incase it rains as they're a bugger to dry. I'd advise shorts and t-shirts, a hoody for the evening and if the weathers nice then some canvas shoes and ding ding ding we've a winner!

GO WITH PEOPLE YOU LIKE: Ok, I'm not gonna lie, this year I'm a bit of a tag-a-long. I'm tagging along with my brother and his friends again, but I'm sure after a few drinks I'll be ok (bit shy sober y'see) But you don't want to be going with people who you don't particually know or don't get along with, this will only make it awkward for you.

DON'T TAKE VALUABLES: Thefts do happen at festivals and you're not gonna want to be the person who gets their new iPhone 5s stolen are you? Plus, the battery will die on the first day, last year we used old phones to contact each other & it's super cheap & the battery lasts all weekend AND it's got really annoying text tones so you can piss everyone off! Also I'd strongly advise not putting locks on your tents as this makes it look like you've got valuable stuff in there and makes it more appealing to theives!

BUDGET: You won't be able to take alcohol into the arena with you (unless you know how to sneak it in..............;) ) so you will need to budget yourself for that & also food, you don't want to get to Saturday and realise you have no money to drink or eat!

You will get pushed when people are looking to go to the front, it's alright to give these people a cheeky nudge back, they're not going to kill you! Be nice to people and they will be nice back, you will make friends at festivals, everyone's there for the same reason, so there shouldn't be any issues with anyone unless you create them. You will most probably get hit with piss, let it go, no-one likes a diva. The one thing you have to do is develop a let-it-go attitude, having one of these will make your life so much easier, I'm not gonna lie, I did at first think I was a bit too much of a prim & proper diva to go festivalling, but you just need to let it all go, you will get muddy, you will smell, but no-one and I mean no-one will appreciate your moaning, don't do it, embrace the dirt!!

Most inportantly, have fun and enjoy yourself! Stay safe, in every sense and make sure you & your chums have a banging time, there's nothing better than a weekend with friends in the sun with some awesome music!

A Disneyland Adventure:

10 years ago I went to Disneyland Paris with my family and had the best time of my life and I've been extremely desperate to return as new rides have been added, but there was issues with the money as it is really really pricey, but when my trip to Kavos was thrown in the bin I decided I had to go to Disneyland and see what I was missing! So with that I text my friend, Abbie and she was in! After that we arranged a trip to the travel agents where they were going to charge us £600 each! Which thinking back now, was quite reasonable, for what it was, being in the Santa Fe Hotel - One of the Disney hotels, and going at peak time with school holidays and what not, but it was completely out of our price range (I am a student) so we scrapped that idea. Which is when I came across a deal on LastMinute.com for £200 cheaper, we booked up and off we went.

I woke up at 5am. Yes 5 in the morning, what a killer! To then pick Abbie up at half 6 where I got my mum to take us to the coach station (that I am extremely grateful for). Our coach came about 7 to take us to London where we got the Underground to St. Pancras station, a very glorious train station, very spectacular! After checking in and going through passport control we waited for our train which would take us directly to Disneyland, we were buzzing! Once we'd arrived in Disney we found our shuttlebus which would take us to our hotel. We stayed at The Explorers Hotel which was one of the 4 partner hotels with Disney, basically all the fun without the price, it had a pirate theme and was really nice, except for the fact it took us half an hour due to an assistants dodgy handwriting. After dumping our bags, we got the bus back where the fun really began.

So we had a little wander around, taking pictures of EVERYTHING in sight, before getting on the teacups, obviously a must do at Disney! We then went on the iconic Dumbo ride, which you see in all the adverts and it was glorious! BUT THEN WE WENT ON THE IT'S A SMALL WORLD RIDE. This ride was one of my favourites when I first went, probably because of the irritating music which still to this day drives my parents insane! We then made the decision to go on Space Mountain. DUN DUN DUN. I HATE rollercoasters. I don't know where this phobia came from, but I went to Thorpe park a few years back, went on one, reluctantly, decided I still didn't like rollercoasters and became deaf in one ear for a few weeks. Saying this, I then went back a few weeks later and forced myself to go on Saw. Petrifying. So you can imagine how I felt going on this rollercoaster, which contained corkscrews and loops - and I lived to tell the tale. (I think I freak myself out too much and convince myself that I'm not safe and I'm going to die, and work myself up far too much) I actually really enjoyed Space Mountain, considering it's one of the first rides that was in the park I reckon it's still got it, it's completely marvelous, and helped me overcome my rollercoaster phobia, slightly. We also met Mickey Mouse on the first day! Which was so exciting! I didn't really meet any characters when I went the first time with my family and to have a short wait to meet him was amazing! I didn't know this was possible, I was excited, really excited, it felt more like Disney when I was waiting in that queue, I definitely turned into a five year old.

These were the pictures I bought from Disney, which were the professional ones they took, they do let you take your own pictures which I think is really nice of them as they don't force you to buy them, which can save you a few bob, but I am looking at decorations for my new room at uni, and got 3 in a deal in photoframes which could sit nicely on a desk or shelf or something. We ate at The Rainforest Cafe on the first night which was in the village. Oh my god, what a place! We've got one in London (which I've never been to..) But you walk in and it looks like you're entering a rainforest and they have random thunderstorms, and it's just really fun, oh, and the foods good too, before heading back to secure a spot for the Disney Dreams fireworks show. Now, when we went 10 years ago they had a really tremendous fireworks show, which included a parade before. Disney have scrapped the parade, which I was a teeny bit disappointed in, but the Disney Dreams show was truly amazing, I even had little tears in my eyes, it was magnificent.

The next day we woke really early for our breakfast before getting the shuttle bus to the parks. We went to the Walt Disney Studios first where I went through another traumatic Rollercoaster ordeal & went on the new Ratatouille ride, which we got FastPass tickets for, as it was a 70 minute queue & I get bored easily, I wasn't expecting anything as I had no idea what to expect because it's new, and it was amazing, truly amazing! We also met Emile, Minnie & Buzz Lightyear, I regret not buying an autograph book, but there wasn't many characters wandering round so I didn't think I'd meet as many as I did!We also went on Peter Pan's Flight which was my favourite favourite favourite ride that I went on the first time we went and it's the most magical and beautiful thing in the entire world.

We also saw the parade, which I remember being longer? I'm not sure. But we got a spot near the front, which made me extremely happy! I'm not gonna lie, Disney made a massive error in the parade, which made me somewhat sad, was the fact they've CHANGED THE MUSIC OH MY GOD DISNEY NO. NO. NO. NO. - I LOVED the music that they used to have at the parade, so my heart did break a teeny bit when I heard it had changed. But hey-ho, onwards and upwards! I loved the parade, seeing all the characters, and the happy music, it's just really lovely.

I think we managed to get on every ride we wanted to, except for a few, but I had the best time of my life, and I was in such good company, I literally could not have asked for anyone better to go with. I have also decided I must buy a house in France so I can pretty much live on the doorstep of Disneyland when I can afford to. I have also decided I must leave it less than 10 years to return, because I've never been so happy in one place (my brother could be going in October and I'm hoping to tag along)

I also bought a load of stuff which I shall be putting in a haul at some point because there is simply not enough room in this blog to show you what I got from the World Of Disney.

Billy and Me | Review

I'm not gonna lie, I did only really buy this book because I like Giovanna. She's just a nice person & I'm a sucker for nice things, but I am so glad I did buy it, after months of it sitting on my shelf at uni (apparently I have far more to do than read..) I really regret not starting it sooner.. Though when I eventually opened the page I was instantly engrossed in the book. For me Billy and Me is the best, YES THE BEST, debut novel, ever.

The book starts with an introduction to Sophie May's past, with hints of a dreadful event, which automatically I know is the secret the autor speaks of on the blurb. When the 'secret' was later revealed in the book it turned out it was one of the scenarios I had thought it would've been, so it wasn't really a surprise.

I really like the setting of the book, a small quiet village, I immediately picture thatched roofs and little flower beds - an old English village, something I'm very much in love with. I also liked the small cafe which Sophie worked in with her boss Molly, who, by the way, was my favourite character by far, she seemed like such a loving woman, very honest but only ever has people's best intentions at heart.

I liked the first interaction between Sophie and Billy, very cute and romantic. I really enjoyed watching their relationship grow during the early stages, and their first date was super cute and I could just gush for ages over how adorable it all is... But I won't. But yes, I was very much in love with their relationship and my heart broke a tiny bit when cracks started showing.

I also enjoyed how Sophie's character stayed the same throughout the book, even after moving to London and the BAFTAs, I feel that Giovanna may have based this a teeny bit on her own personality. I did see some of myself in Sophie, the anxiety and the shyness, which I enjoyed as I found it really easy to relate to.

I'd easily recommend this book to everyone, I handed it straight to my mum as soon as I was finished. It's a lovely little romantic tale with no flaws, Giovanna is a beautiful writer and I'm very much looking forward to reading her second book You're The One That I Want.

Hyde Park, Soaking wet & MCBUSTED!!

When McBusted were announced as a supergroup, I, as a dedicated McFly fan & James Bourne lover, I was ecstatic! I HAD to get tickets! So after dates being sold out & people saying no I was left disappointed with no tickets. HOWEVER I did make it to the O2 date in April, courtesy of my brother getting me tickets for Christmas! (Best present ever!). So the concert itself was the BEST THING IVE EVER SEEN EVER. I did not stop going on about it for months, it really was the best thing that my eyes and ears have ever witnessed. After the gig, we decided to shot a few sambuca's and make a night of it, what we were all rather intoxicated my brother announced to the group that we are all attending the Hyde Park gig, that was happening in July, this idea was brushed off due to the alcohol, but always stuck in my mind. THAT WAS WHEN I GOT A TEXT OFF MY BROTHER SAYING WE'RE GOING. I told you, he's AMAZING!

So after a morning of sellotaping cat hairs off my McBusted tour t-shirt (such an inconvenience having a ginger cat & a black tee) we moved our butts out the house and after a short while, a really boring bus journey and a McDonald's later we arrived at Hyde Park!

The first act we saw was Hollywood Ending, this was my choice, because let's be honest who wouldn't want to see the boy from the year 3000 video? And the fact he's James Bourne's brother. To my surprise the band we're actually pretty good! Got the small crowd going, this could be partly to their good looks, but I liked them! A* from me boys, keep doing what you're doing!

We then moved over to the main stage, which was fabulous, it looked like a rain forest where we saw Diversity (yawn) and Scouting For Girls. Now, I like Scouting For Girls and the few songs they have, they did not disappoint, they're a nice

band and they can sing, so I'm a sucker for that really!

After this we (or rather I) watched, or listened, to The Vamps, I like The Vamps, I saw them support McFly on their Memory Lane tour last year and decided to be a fully fledged fan of theirs, I can't tell if I'm taking the piss with this yet or not, but they've a few catchy songs and I'm not ashamed to say I know all the words to them.

We then moved ourselves closer to the stage for Backstreet Boys. I don't know

much about Backstreet Boys, a bit before my time I reckon. Bit I wasn't overly impressed, not being a fan of boybands who sit on stools and dance. Except you, Westlife. And I was even more less impressed when the heavens decided to open and me, being in only a t-shirt got completely soaked, wet through. Anyone who went to Hyde Park knows how frustrating this is as the entire day had been blazing sunshine up to this moment. Angry face. To then top it off, I went to buy a McBusted hoody, y'know try and dry myself off a bit, and missed James Bourne, THE JAMES BOURNE OF BUSTED, getting up on stage with Backstreet Boys. Miffed? Quite.

We then had a 45 minute wait for the McBusted boys. When they came on stage. The feels were real. An instant smile was slapped across my face. I was at home. The setlist was pretty much the same as the O2, except this time we received what can only be described as a *beautiful* rendition of 'God Save The Queen' from Dougie. Glorious. The t-shirt guns were out, always a necessity at a McFly gig, exciting times, and my brother was SO close to catching one, but the guy in front was just that bit closer. Danny Jones (who I believe has the best stage presence I the world) was on top form as per. To make it all better the clouds shifted to reveal a rainbow during '5 Colours In Her Hair' like it was meant to be. It was perfect. I was so extremely lucky to have witnessed the biggest gig of McBusted's career, so far. At this show there were far more fireworks, which were glorious, confetti, which was even more fabulous and more wedding dresses, much to my delight. The show ended with a "to be continued..." Sign plastered on the big screen, which gets me excited for an album? And ANOTHER tour? Please god let this happen. McBusted have become a rather large part of my life & I'm not ready to say goodbye yet.

Overall it was a really good day out. Probably the some of most fun I've had all year, it was the best day of the summer so far. Hands down. Thankyou for my brother for taking me.

World Cup Willie

SO. I've decided where I want to go with this blog. I've decided I'm gonna do main blog posts on Sundays (fashion, general life updates etc..) and then if there's anything else, recipies etc.. to share then I'll put them up midweek.

Which brings me to this post, which I wasn't forced to write at all... (I actually wasn't, kindness of my heart n'all that). As you all know, the World Cup is still among us and what better way to enjoy it, than taking half an hour out of your day, to listen to three awkward, yet funny football fans giving their views and match reports on the current World Cup?
Back in 2010 my brother and his friends came together to create an extremely popular podcast based around the World Cup, I believe it even got into the iTunes chart?! They came back in 2012 for the Euros where the Free Podcast once again became very popular on iTunes so it would only be right for it to come back for the 2014 World Cup.
The podcast is easy listening, it can it's not a bunch of people telling you what you want to hear or trying to change your opinion on players or teams, it's the presenters own opinions, some of which are different to each others whether you agree with what they say is up to you.

Basically I'm writing this to ask you all to please listen to the Podcast as it's the essential (I sound like a Tescos Mothers Day advert) Podcast for everyone who takes an interest in the World Cup, and I know many of you do as my World Cup Craziness post is one of my most popular posts, obviously you wouldn't read if you had no interest. The people who have created this Podcast has invested a lot of their time putting it together and it deserves to be heard by the public. I'll post the links below, it is currently available on SoundCloud, so you can listen to it on your phone, which is easy if you're stuck in traffic on the bus or just have some spare time. I believe the Podcast will soon be available to listen to on iTunes - don't quote me on this.
